FRANKFURT, July 18 (Reuters) - Index futures for top European share benchmarks pointed to a weak open on Friday, after disappointing U.S. earnings reported after Wall Street's closing bell weighed on Asian stock markets.

DJ Euro Stoxx 50 STXEc1 futures were down 0.3 percent, while futures for Germany's DAX FDXc1 0.3 percent and for France's CAC FCEc1 were down 0.5 percent.

Investor focus now shifts to results from Citigroup (C.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) due later in the session for more direction about the health of the global banking sector, which has been battered by a credit crisis. (Reporting by Sylvia Westall)
