European shares seen extending steep falls
LONDON, Sept 5 (Reuters) - European shares were expected to open sharply lower on Friday, adding to their steep losses in the previous session as stocks in the United States and Asia also fell on global economic worries.
Financial spreadbetters expected declines of 1-1.3 percent in the region's top national benchmarks -- Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE, Germany's DAX .GDAXI and France's CAC 40 .FCHI.
European shares lost 2.6 percent on Thursday, while U.S. stocks on the S&P 500 .SPX tumbled 3 percent. Japan's Nikkei .N225 was 2.8 percent lower on Friday, while other major Asian shares were down more than 2 percent.
