HK shares down 0.8 pct; China Comm Cons slumps
HONG KONG, Sept 4 (Reuters) - Hong Kong shares dipped 0.8 percent on Thursday, with China Communications Construction (1800.HK: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) plummeting on broker downgrades but fixed-line operator China Netcom 0906.HK rallying after Spain's Telefonica said it was hiking its stake in the firm.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index .HSI unofficially closed down 172.70 points at 20,412.36, dragged down by blue chips such as China Mobile (0941.HK: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) and Sun Hung Kai Properties (0016.HK: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) on earnings concerns.
The China Enterprises Index .HSCE of top locally listed mainland Chinese firms fell 1.5 percent.
