 (Adds BANPU, Ital-Thai)
BANGKOK, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Thailand's benchmark stock
index .SETI was up 15.26 points, or 2.36 percent, at a near
one-week high of 661.06 at 0801 GMT in thin trade on Monday.
It rose in line with gains on overseas markets after the
U.S. government took control of mortgage giants Fannie Mae and
Freddie Mac, which helped ease worries about the global credit
crisis, but the rise was limited by domestic political
problems, which dragged the index to a 19-month low last week.
 Stocks on the move included:
BANPU BANP.BK UP ON INDONESIAN TAX CUT
Banpu BANP.BK, Thailand's largest coal miner,
outperformed the market rally after Kasikorn Securities said in
a research note the company would have higher earnings as
Indonesia's government would cut the corporate tax rate to 28
percent in 2009 and 25 percent in 2010 from 30 percent.
Banpu, which has five mines in Indonesia, was up 2.9
percent at 356 baht at 0738 GMT
 ITALIAN-THAI DEVELOPMENT ITD.BK UP
The top construction firm rose 2.8 percent to a one-week
high of 4.44 baht after it said it had signed three contracts,
including one for road construction with the Bangkok
Metropolitian Authority, worth a combined 754 million baht
($21.9 million).
 0802 GMT
BANK STOCKS .SETB UP AS GLOBAL FINANCIAL FEARS EASE
Bank stocks recovered nearly 3 percent to a one-week high
after Friday's 1.4 percent fall to the lowest close since July
22.
Top lender Bangkok Bank BBL.BK led the gains, rising 3.6
percent to 114 baht. Second-ranked Krung Thai Bank KTB.BK
climbed 2.8 percent to 7.30 baht and number three Siam
Commercial Bank SCB.BK rose 3.42 percent to 75.50 baht.
 0740 GMT
 ENERGY SHARES .SETEN RISE
A jump in world oil prices prompted buying of energy firms,
pushing the energy sub-index up 2.5 percent.
Index heavyweight PTT PCL PTT.BK rose 2.5 percent to 246
baht and PTT Exploration and Production PTTE.BK was up 4.55
percent at 138 baht.
