MOSCOW, Aug 8 (Reuters) - The CEO of Russia's United Company RUSAL said on Friday he saw no parallels between shareholder conflicts in miner Norilsk Nickel (GMKN.MM: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) and oil firm TNK-BP (TNBPI.RTS: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) but added that such conflict will hurt the miner.

"It is difficult to talk about parallels between Norilsk and TNK BP," RUSAL's Chief Executive Officer Alexander Bulygin told reporters.

"But I agree with you that a conflict of such a nature is destroying the company in the short and medium-term. However, if we defend our position, in the longer term, two years or more, it will be beneficial for the company and its shareholders." (Reporting by Gleb Bryanski)
